7 Classy Pumpkin-Themed Fall Décor Ideas for Traditional Homes

By , August 21, 2024

Fall is just around the corner, and with that comes fall decorating! You may already have a Pinterest board packed full of fall decorating inspiration. I personally enjoy crafting my own fall décor, but there’s also plenty of beautiful options available ready-made. Just browse your favorite home store and you’re sure to find plenty of inspiration!

If you’re like me, you may not always enjoy the pre-made options for fall décor. Often, what I find in stores is a little too kitschy or farmhouse-y for my taste. I prefer options that fit with my traditional and vintage style. I always aim to keep my fall décor looking classy and gorgeous!

If you find yourself longing for elegant fall décor ideas, look no further! Here are seven classy pumpkin-themed fall décor ideas that are sure to inspire you for the new season.

Velvet Pumpkins

Velvet pumpkins are readily available in stores (I got mine from Dollar Tree), and they are perfect if you are going for an elegant and classy vibe with your fall décor. I used mine as bowl filler on my buffet table.

Faux Pumpkin Floral Arrangements

Create or purchase a fall floral arrangement that has pumpkins in it! You can find plenty of floral supplies at Hobby Lobby if you are artistically inclined. Or, if you prefer to purchase a pre-made arrangement, there are some gorgeous ones available in my Etsy shop.

Pumpkin Topiaries

A pumpkin topiary is an elegant way to decorate for fall. You can place two symmetrical ones on a buffet table, or use a larger one on your front porch as outdoor décor. You can also use them on their own or place them atop a pretty flower pot for extra drama. I purchased the pumpkin topiary shown below at Hobby Lobby. It’s priced at $20.99, but I got mine for 40% off.

Chinoiserie Porcelain Pumpkins

Porcelain pumpkins can be a stunning way to decorate for fall! They look amazing in a china cabinet or styled on a buffet table. You can opt for a clear glass pumpkin that you can fill with vase filler, but my favorite option is a classic porcelain pumpkin.

Fresh Flower Filled Pumpkins

Rather than the usual Jack-o-Lantern, I enjoy creating floral arrangements that sit inside of my carved out pumpkins. All you need to do is grab a Chinese take out container (the plastic ones that hold wonton soup) and cut out an opening in the pumpkin to fit it. Stuff the container with floral foam designed for wet flowers, available in your local craft store or on Amazon. Then, create your fresh floral arrangement in the foam and be sure to keep the contain filled with water to preserve your flowers.

Once they die, you can always replace the floral arrangement in the center, keeping the same pumpkin for the next arrangement.

Miniature Pumpkins

You can find both faux and real miniature pumpkins to decorate with for fall! They can be used in a variety of ways. Check out this blog post for some mini pumpkin decorating inspiration!

Chinoiserie Painted Pumpkins

Painting pumpkins is a great way to help them fit your color scheme! I’ve seen a lot of pumpkins painted in blue and white chinoiserie patterns, but you really can let your imagination run wild here. Choose colors and patterns that suit your décor and get crafty! To get started, check out my tutorial for creating DIY Painted Pumpkins.

Studded or Beaded Pumpkins

I scored these foam pumpkins at Dollar Tree and used gold beads and studded push pins (along with some paint) to customize them to suite my décor. Check out my foam pumpkin tutorial to make these beauties for yourself!
