For my daughter’s first birthday party this past summer, I followed a recipe for strawberry lemonade and served mixed berries as a side dish. The theme of the party was strawberries, her favorite fruit, and the perfect theme for a first birthday. I even lucked out and scored some free strawberry decorations from someone else who had done a similar theme. After the party, the mixed berries were a bit mushy and had formed a syrup. I was inspired to alter the recipe I tried to create my own mixed berry lemonade.
This mixed berry lemonade features a refreshing blend of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. It’s super sweet with the familiar lemon tag. The result is a refreshing virgin beverage that’s perfect for a party or to serve yourself on a warm summer day.
I’m not usually interested in super sweet drinks, but this beverage really is on the sweeter side. You can add a bit more or less sugar to get the level of sweetness that you desire! If you choose to experiment with this recipes, please share your results in the comments below!
In a blender, combine all of the berries, 1/4 cup of the sugar, and 1/4 cup of water. Blend well.
Pour into a large pitcher and add lemon juice, remaining 5 and 3/4 cups water, and the remaining 1 1/2 half cups of sugar. Mix well.
Serve your mixed berry lemonade over ice and top with fresh berries or lemon slices!
