In my home, I’ve created multiple variations of a plate gallery wall. I adore collecting plates and I love the classic look that such a wall lends to a home. You can add so much color, pattern, and dimension to your space! Read on for some inspiration and tips for how to create a plate wall.
Beautiful plates are easy to collect, as you can acquire them thrift stores, yard sales, and estate sales for a low price, depending on the pattern. Above all, I like to collect Blue Willow plates. I also enjoy collecting any unique and colorful plates that catch my eye. You can opt for plates all in a similar color family, all of the same pattern, or you can mix and match for a more eclectic look.
With my first attempt at a gallery wall, I started by laying everything out on the floor and then I eyeballed it. On my second attempt, which was a Blue Willow gallery wall that still hangs above my kitchen cabinets, I was much more methodical.
Here are a few steps I recommend following when you’re trying to get your layout right.
There are multiple types of hardware you can use. My personal favorite are the wire holders that can be hooked around your plate. You can find the exact plates holders that I used on Amazon. Additionally, there are pieces of hardware that can be attached to the back of your plate with adhesive. You can find these adhesive plate holders on Amazon.
The result of your hard work is a stunning plate collage that will be stylish for years to come! I hope you enjoyed the process of curating all of the pieces and then learning how to create a plate wall.
