We became the proud parents of a sweet baby girl on July 6, 2023. One of the most exciting things about preparing for her arrival was decorating our nursery. After much thought, we finally selected a jungle themed baby nursery, which I loved because 1) it is gender neutral and 2) it’s absolutely adorable!
As you can see, our main colors were green and white. I painted the walls in a color called Copper Patina, which I always describe as being the same color as the Statue of Liberty.
The large “A”, which stands for Alexa, was a thrift store find that I painted white. I thrifted the lamp, and I added a brand new shade purchased from At Home (I almost always buy lampshades there).
The dresser was actually a curbside find. We had been searching for dressers on Facebook Marketplace but to no avail. At last, we stumbled upon this piece down the street from our home. My husband popped it on a hand truck and wheeled it to our house. I thought about doing a fancy paint job, but ended up going with this simple solid grey.
The crib was our only splurge in this room. It’s from Ikea, and we fell in love with it when we saw it. We love the extra storage from the spacious drawer underneath.
The wall art was a set of downloadable jungle animal prints that I found on Etsy. I paid to have them printed on flat canvas. I glued the canvas onto pieces of hardboard from Home Depot that were cut to fit into the frames. Most frames were thrifted, but the gold frame containing the giraffe was another curbside find.
The corner at the foot of the crib has a floating shelf that displays a few wooden animals that my mom used to decorate for my baby shower. Additionally, there is also a small floral arrangement that I crafted from faux flowers from the shower. Finally, hanging above that is a photobox that houses a sonogram, which a friend gifted us.
Under our window, we hung a plastic chain of clothespins to display and store stuffed animals. I love that this gets them off the floor and turns them into a cute work of art!
Lastly, I put a lot of effort into organizing her closet. We removed the sliding doors and replaced them with curtains to make the closet more accessible. The shelf and baskets are from Ikea, and we love the storage and display space that this adds to the room. I put all of Alexa’s books on the bottom shelves so that they are easy for her to reach, and I displayed some cute décor on the top shelves.
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our baby girl’s nursery! It is ever evolving as she grows older. We already took down our adorable jungle mobile as she’s now too tall for it. Additionally, we have some precious handmade quilts and afghans that aren’t on display because she is too young to sleep with blankets.
