Simple Valentine's Day Table Decorations

Celebrating With Spouses and Friends

Valentine’s Day has always been a fun holiday for me to celebrate. My husband and I have never done anything expensive. He typically buys me flowers and I make a nice dinner at home. If you don’t have a significant other, you can still participate by hosting a Gal-entine’s Day celebration. It can be a great time to celebrate friendships and exchange small gifts.

Simple Valentine’s Day Table Decorations: Fabric Placemats

Whether it’s a night for two or a bigger party, you can borrow ideas from my tablescape. Believe it or not, my starting point for this design was my placemats. I found a few yards of gorgeous red toile fabric at the thrift store and felt it was perfect for a classy Valentine’s Day spread. I sewed the placemats myself using fabric I had on hand and supplies from Hobby Lobby. This Easy DIY Fabric Placemats Tutorial will help you out if you want to sew your own placemats.

Simple Valentine’s Day Table Decorations: Crystal Drinkware

What stands out to me the most about this tablescape are the gorgeous red crystal goblets. I actually borrowed these from my mom. We both collect this pattern – hers is red, and mine is clear crystal. When she saw what I was putting together, she realized these would be the perfect addition and let me use them. I paired them with my own clear drinking glasses.

Simple Valentine’s Day Table Decorations: Pretty Plates

The pink clear plates were the perfect plate to use with these placemats. Since they are transparent, more of the pretty pattern underneath shows through. This was exactly what I wanted! I topped them with my favorite lacey-looking white milk glass plates.

Simple Valentine’s Day Table Decorations: Fabric Napkins

The pink fabric napkins were another sewing project. Here is a DIY fabric napkins tutorial you can follow if you want to make your own. I have a huge collection of fabric that I’ve accumulated over the years, and this was a great project for using some of that collection. I happened to have some brass rose-shaped napkin rings which were so on-theme for Valentine’s Day.

Simple Valentine’s Day Table Decorations: Rose Centerpiece

The rose centerpiece was so simple, but it ended up being the perfect finishing touch. The red vase matched the glassware, and the pink roses were elegant. All I had to do was fill the vase with a foam block and stick the cut roses inside to create the arrangement. I placed a small square lace doily underneath at an angle, and it looked great!

Make It Your Own!

I hope this tablescape gives you ideas to create your own gorgeous celebration. I would love to see photos of your creations! Tag @laurenmagazine on Instagram in your Valentine’s Day decorating photos.
