Are you looking for ideas on how to decorate for Valentine’s Day? If so, you are in luck! This post is full of unique ideas for this winter holiday. To follow are some easy DIY ideas, as well as some suggestions for using collectible glassware that you may have scored at the thrift or antique store. Additionally, I suggested a few ways that Christmas décor can be reimagined for Valentine’s.
I always love figuring out how I want to decorate for Valentine’s Day! Typically, I take my Christmas décor down after New Year’s Day has passed and start decorating for this pretty in pink holiday, but this year with a baby on the way I decided to get an early start – I didn’t want to leave up my Christmas décor and then never have time to actually put it away!
This year’s Valentine’s Day décor is a blend of pieces I used last year, plus some new and inventive décor of which I’m very pleased. My style is very vintage inspired, so these ideas are definitely perfect for vintage lovers.
Here are some of the ideas I used around my home. I also included a few ideas from last year for extra inspiration!

I made this cute heart garland from red toile fabric a few years ago, and I love bringing it out this time of year. I wanted to create a tutorial for how I did this – and maybe I will in the future. Right now with a baby almost here as I write this, I don’t have time to do that. However, here’s a similar heart garland tutorial that I found on Pinterest.

I have a collection of milk glass that I absolutely love to display together. The crisp white and pretty shapes are perfect for Valentine’s Day, but you can display them throughout all of winter.
To make them festive, try adding Valentine’s Day florals or heart shaped ornaments to fill the pieces. You can even tie red or pink ribbon around them for a special touch.
Here are some more ideas for decorating with milk glass that I shared on the blog previously!

I think these little glass Christmas trees are so pretty, and they really work for winter – not just Christmas time. Last year I added some heart shaped stickers to mine to make them last through another holiday.

I found this gold branch at a thrift store, and I love putting Christmas ornaments on it in December. This year I had the idea to decorate it for Valentine’s Day as well! I hung some DIY doily ornaments I made for Christmas that look like snowflakes.
You can copy this look with a found branch in your yard. Depending on your decor, you could leave it plain for a rustic look or spray paint in your favorite color. Besides doilies, you could also decorate this with heart ornaments!

I hung this eucalyptus garland for Christmas, but I decided I wanted to reuse it for Valentine’s Day. I love the way it fills in the top of this pink hutch! To make it more appropriate for February, I added some homemade heart ornaments that I made from red toile fabric scraps.

I love decorating with doilies, and they are especially pretty for Valentine’s Day. You can buy paper ones from the store or use the crocheted ones that your grandmother passed down to you. Consider dying some of them red or pink and using them in unique ways! I like to drape pretty fabric doilies over my décor, like I did last year with my secretary desk pictured above. You can also hang paper doilies on windows or cabinets. Here are some creative ways to decorate with doilies.

I got this idea from my mom – she always saves her prettiest candy boxes and displays them year after year. My favorite is a leopard print box that my husband gave me (center picture above), but I have a few that I love to decorate with.

I had red and green taper candles displayed for Christmas. To make them work for February, I swapped the green candles with white ones. They add an elegant touch to my décor, and I love the thrifted brass candleholders that display them!

Pink is the most common depression glass color, and it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day! I often use mine in festive tablescapes, but they also are beautiful displayed in a China cabinet or on a hutch.
This year I just have one of my pieces on display in the photo above, but you could group them together and create a little eye-catching moment of pink glass.
Add white or red ribbon for a festive touch, or simply display them on their own. Here are some tips for finding and caring for collectible depression glass.

This pink heart shaped wreath was a Hobby Lobby find. I used command strips to hang mine on the front of this cabinet. Hobby Lobby doesn’t carry it anymore, but you can shop a similar heart wreath at Target.
I’d love to see your Valentine’s Day décor – especially if you’ve tried out any of my suggestions. Tag @LaurenMagazine on Instagram so I can check out your pics!
