If you know me or read my blog, you’ll know that I’m an avid thrifter. I thrift everything from home décor to clothing, and I’m passionate about all of the benefits that come with thrifting. In this post, I’m talking about my wardrobe. I’ve amassed quite a collection of thrifted clothing over the years, and I consider myself to know a thing or two about thrifting for my closet. Today I’m sharing five classic wardrobe staples that you can find at thrift stores.
These are pieces that aren’t going out of style anytime soon, so you can feel confident adding them to your wardrobe. They’ve been around for a while, so you can source both vintage and recent versions of these items. And as someone who spends a significant amount of time thrifting, I can tell you these clothing items are fairly easy to come by. So let’s talk about these classic finds!
A pleated skirt is ultra feminine and not going out of style anytime soon. I find it really easy to score a pleated skirt while thrifting. I actually have three that I found!
You can dress yours up with a fancy blouse, or pair it with a graphic tee and a blazer for a casual look. In warmer months, I always wear tight shorts under my skirt for extra comfort, plus for modesty in case a gust of wind hits.
I recently scored this classic beige jacket at Goodwill. It was just $10, and it actually buttons up all the way (this is not true of all my jackets). It’s already gotten a lot of use in the chilly spring weather.
You can find all kinds of lightweight jackets at the thrift store. Pair them with jeans for a casual look or toss them over a maxi dress for more elegance.
I love my jean jacket! You can find this classic piece in all shapes, sizes, and fits at the thrift store. I usually prefer a fitted jacket, so sometimes I’ll wear jean jackets that don’t button all the way in order to achieve the fitted look I desire. If you do this, just make sure yours looks nice hanging open.
Jean jackets look great with a maxi dress or skirt. I also like to add them to a yoga pants and tee shirt look to make it a little bit elevated.
I have countless flowy blouses that I scored at the thrift store. My favorite way to wear them is tucked into high-waisted jeans with a nice belt. I find this article of clothing is the easiest to eyeball your size. I don’t usually need to try them on before buying!
Blazers may be my favorite thing to thrift. I have quite the collection of them, in a variety of colors, sizes, and patterns. I have many that are newer, popular brands, but I also love a vintage blazer. I enjoy wearing a blazer with a flowy top and jeans for a smart casual look. But you can pair a blazer with a skirt or dress too.
