Butterfly Bedroom Décor: A Magical Room for a Little Girl

By , November 27, 2025

Butterfly Bedroom Decor

As my daughter Alexa turns from a baby to a toddler, we decided to give her room some big girl updates! I adored her jungle themed nursery, but with a new baby on the way, we decided to pass the jungle theme on to our little boy and give Alexa some butterfly bedroom décor.

Butterflies are among Alexa’s favorite things. She is always filled with wonder when she spots one! When my sister offered to make her a butterfly quilt, that inspired me to make this the new bedroom theme. The butterfly bedroom décor is pretty and girly, but not so babyish that she’ll outgrow it quickly.

I thoroughly enjoyed putting this design together. Join me as we take a little tour of the butterfly bedroom décor in this girly toddler room!

DIY Butterfly Bedroom Signage

I found these wooden butterflies at Hobby Lobby and knew I had to incorporate them into my design! I decided to create signage to welcome people to the room.

I painted them with shades of pink and purple acrylic craft paint and then wrote her name with a black paint pen. They are the perfect way to introduce the butterfly theme!

Butterfly Bedroom Decor: Little Girl's Pink Toddler Bed

The Bed and Butterfly Bedding

The center of this updated room is this toddler bed we purchased from IKEA. The cool thing about this bed is that its size is adjustable. It starts out as a toddler bed, but can be adjusted to accommodate a twin size mattress when we are ready for it.

The bed comes in white or pink. I opted for pink to go with the touches of pink in her quilt. The quilt really steals the show! When my sister presented Alexa with the quilt, she squealed, “Is that for me?”

Butterfly Pillow and Quilt

To go with the quilt, I made a butterfly shaped pillow from the leftover materials from the quilt. It turned out so cute, and Lexi proudly shows it off when people are in her room. “Mama made this for me!” she tells them.

I would provide a tutorial for the butterfly pillow, but it’s not perfect and I feel I could probably troubleshoot the pattern more. Maybe one day I’ll revisit that!

Butterfly Shadowbox

Butterfly Shadow Box

This butterfly shadow box was actually the first thing I made after I chose the theme. I had the idea a while ago but never had a reason to make one until now!

This was a really easy DIY that anyone can put together. Customize it by choosing a frame and colors of butterfly that match your décor.

Gallery wall for little girl's room

I paired this shadowbox with other easy and girly artwork to create a small gallery wall above the bed. This includes a windowpane that frames a piece of an old doily tablecloth.

DIY Painted Butterfly

Shelf with wooden butterfly and floral arrangement

This was an easy project that I enlisted Alexa’s help with. I found the wooden butterfly at Dollar Tree and spray painted it gold. Then, using the acrylic paint leftover from the door signage, I let her paint whatever she wanted over the gold.

I loved the result for this DIY! It looks pretty and matches her décor, but the fact that she painted it herself makes it extra special.

DIY Crystal Chandelier

Crystal Chandelier

This project started off as a filthy, broken set of vintage lamps from a friend’s attic. I took them apart and cleaned and repurposed all of the crystals into this decorative chandelier.

I put off this project for a few months because I was a little intimidated. The rings of crystals came together more quickly than I expected, but attaching the chains was a little challenging. My husband helped me out with this part, or else it would have taken me longer to complete.

When Alexa first laid eyes on the finished chandelier, she said, “Wow, so beau-ful! Who made that?” I was proud to tell her that Daddy and I made it for her. I love that she is our biggest cheerleader!

I may try to provide a tutorial for this project in the future. I did not photograph each step in assembly because I was too busy trying to figure out all the logistics. But I have some extra crystals, so if I ever get that tutorial done, I’ll come back and link it in this post!

Butterfly Bedroom Décor: In Love with the Results

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my daughter’s butterfly bedroom décor! I am so proud of how it turned out, and she truly loves it too. I’m hoping this theme will be one she enjoys for years to come!
