Mango Chipotle Mayo (Sweet and Spicy)

We recently tried out a recipe for beer battered fish tacos, and needed a sauce to go with them. This homemade sweet and spicy mango chipotle mayo was the perfect pairing! Chipotle mayo is a favorite sauce in our home, but I personally like it better with something sweet to cut the spiciness. I love fresh mango, so I decided to add that flavor to this classic sauce recipe.

I perfected this recipe to get just the right amount of mango flavor and spiciness from the peppers. We tried out a few versions before arriving at the perfect measurements for each ingredient. This comes together so quickly, you can easily whip up a batch if you have all the ingredients on hand.

Mango Chipotle Mayo – Getting the Ingredients Right

I recommend using a cut up fresh mango rather than mango juice. The flesh of the fruit adds a nice texture to the finished sauce. 

We made our sauce with two chipotle peppers, which yielded a mildly spicy sauce. If you don’t like spicy sauce, stick to just one pepper.

What to Pair This Sauce With

This sauce is delicious with battered fish or shrimp, whether you enjoy them in tacos or served with a side of rice. It would also make a great addition to nachos. I tried using mine as a salad dressing and I enjoyed that as well! 

If you love Hispanic food, we also made some homemade bacalaitos, or fried batter, and dipped them in the sauce. And don’t forget a delicious beverage – try pairing this with our mango lime sangria for even more fruity flavor.

Mango Chipotle Mayo Shelf Life

This sauce has a pretty decent shelf life when stored properly! Store extra sauce in an airtight container or jar in your fridge for 7-10 days.

Mango Chipotle Mayo

This tasty mango chipotle mayo is the perfect sauce for tacos, nachos, and more. It's sweet and spicy and adds the perfect flavor to your special dishes!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh mango, just ripe (not juice)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 2-3 chipotle peppers in adobo, with about 2 tablespoons of the adobo sauce (use just one pepper if you don’t like spice)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method
 

  1. Cut up mango, removing pit and skin.
  2. Add all ingredients to your food processor and blend together thoroughly.
  3. Spoon onto your prepared meal and enjoy!
