It’s important to make sure that you are using culinary lavender in anything that you plan to consume. Culinary lavender refers to “English lavender” which is a milder variety that produces a more palatable lavender flavor in foods and beverages. You’ll want to avoid cooking with Spanish lavender or any other variety, as it may yield a strong and soapy flavor.
If you are growing your own lavender, make sure it is of the correct variety to use in food. You’ll also want to make sure that you use only the floral buds – removing and stems and other pieces that don’t belong in your food or drink.
Here are some delicious lavender drinks that you can create for yourself or for friends and family.
If you love lavender in your drinks, you’ll love this lavender cocktail! This recipe is among my top three favorite recipes that I’ve ever invented. It’s refreshingly sweet and sour, and I love making it through the summer and even in the fall.

If you prefer a non-alcoholic beverage, then give this lavender lemonade a try. I love to make big double batches of this to have on hand as a refreshing drink to serve friends and family. It’s always a big hit when I bring this to a party or get-together!
This lavender honey latte is refreshing whether you make it hot or iced. I’m not big on flavored coffee drinks, preferring to stick to a plain unsweetened oat milk latte. But this drink is so good that it’s worth trying. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it!
Hot lavender tea brings with it many benefits, and it’s simple to brew. This drink is probably the one that yields the strongest lavender flavor, so be sure to add some sweeteners and maybe even a hint of lemon juice to make this tea taste its best.

Hands down, this is my favorite lavender recipe. It’s so delicious and is the perfect way to use culinary lavender. I got this recipe from my Magnolia cookbook, but I’ve found it on Pinterest so you can try it out yourself. The recipe does require some effort and requires a double boiler type of situation, but it’s totally worth the trouble.
This lavender tea bread would pair perfectly with that lavender latte or even with lavender tea. It’s a simple and sweet recipe that has a unique and delightful flavor.
